My Hobby

        My favorite hobby is playing drums. I spend a lot of my free time playing drums. I started learning to play drums when I was 9 years old. I played in my school’s band. When I was 12, I got a private drum teacher and started to really enjoy playing.

My parents bought me a drum set and I started practicing every day after school. It was very loud, but my mother never complained. I improved a lot, and playing drums has been my favorite hobby ever since.

Now, I play drums in a band with my friend Dan, who plays guitar. We write songs, perform, and practice twice a week. It’s still as fun as it was when I first started playing!

Here are some topics for help to speak. You can also add new ones for your conversation.
1. WeatherAlthough talking about the weather may seem mundane, it is a good neutral topic that everyone can discuss.

7. TravelPeople like to hear about vacations. If you travel, be ready to answer questions and give your opinions about the places you have visited. Put together albums that you can show people who visit your home.

8. Celebrity GossipIt isn't necessary to follow celebrity gossip to make small talk. However, it is a good idea to know a little bit about some of the most popular celebrities in case the topic comes up.

9. HobbiesPeople like to talk about their hobbies and are likely to be interested in yours. If you don't have any hobbies, consider trying something new. Not only will you have something to talk about, but having a hobby will give you a chance to meet others with like interests.

10. HometownYou might be asked about your hometown. How is it different from where you live now? Why did you leave? Ask others about their hometowns as well. You never know who might be from the same place as you.

Here you can videochat with your friends in order to improve your speaking skills.
